Gate Valves
Derwent Industries specialise in a wide range of gate valves (shut off valves), including approved resilient seated gate valves certified to Australian Standards AS2638-2. Sizes ranges from DN 50 (50 mm) to DN 1200 (1.2 metres) and pressure ratings vary from PN 16 (16 bar) to PN 25. (25 bar). Derwent Industries provide riser extensions, gearboxes & automated valves with either electric or pneumatic actuators to order, in a fast turn-a-round time. Buried service option is available on request. Refer to the appropriate data sheet for full details on Derwent Industries gate valves.
Basic Types of Gate Valves & Their Applications
| Actuation Type | Key Features & Accessories | Ideal Applications |
|---|---|---|
| Electric Actuators | Powered operation with high torque output, multi-turn or quarter-turn options, integrated local controls, position indicators, and limit switchboxes. | Remote plant automation, large bore valves (e.g., DN 300–DN 2000), water treatment facilities, and power plants. |
| Pneumatic Actuators | Fast cycling times, fail-safe spring return or double-acting configurations, direct-mount NAMUR solenoids, and electropneumatic positioners. | High-cycle industrial lines, emergency shut-off systems, and hazardous/explosive processing environments. |
FAQ
What is a gate valve?
A gate valve is a shut-off valve that controls fluid flow by raising or lowering a gate inside the valve. It’s best used for fully open or closed applications.
Where are gate valves commonly used?
Gate valves are widely used in water supply, wastewater systems, mining operations, and industrial pipeline networks.
What sizes and pressure ratings are available?
Derwent gate valves are available in sizes from DN 50 to DN 1200 and pressure ratings from PN 16 to PN 25.
Do you offer automated gate valves?
Yes, we provide automated gate valves with either electric or pneumatic actuators, as well as manual options with gearboxes and riser extensions.
