Derwent Industries joined international Defence Prime, Thales, at the 2025 Avalon Airshow.
This is the largest airshow and aerospace, and defence exposition held in the Southern Hemisphere. The event hosted 291 delegations from 43 nations, 902 exhibiting organisations and attracted more than 200,000 visitors.
Our promotional activity focused on Mackay’s contribution to the design, development and manufacture of Thales’s Draco Class Rocket Motor (DCRM), a hypersonic mission-specific second class second stage rocket motor that has been, 100%, designed, developed and manufactured in Australia.
Mackay’s significant contribution involves developing and providing thermal insulation between the fuel and the carbon wrap to prevent premature destruction during flight.
